Online Learning FAQ
Why should I take a course like this?
It's really a matter of convenience and quality. Convenience means you can do the courses on your schedule, not somebody else's. Start when you want, work at your own pace, finish when you want...it's all up to you. Convenience also means working where you want....wherever you have access to the internet, it's that easy. Quality means choosing from topics that are interesting and relevant to your work. It also means courses that make it easy for you to learn. If you're taking a prelicense course it means a greater likelihood that you'll pass the state exam on the first attempt.
How does a course work?
Each course is divided into lessons that take about 20-30 minutes on the average. Each lesson consists of text with multiple choice questions mixed in. The text is presented one small, easy-to-understand sentence or paragraph at a time. After a few screens of text, you will answer a few questions about what you have read. As you progress through the lesson, the learning process keeps track of how you are doing on the questions. After all the text is presented, the computer will go back to the questions you missed or had problems with and review them in random order. You'll keep working on the lesson until you've answered all the questions correctly on two occasions. At that point, the lesson will be marked as complete on the main menu. You can quit a lesson at any time and a bookmark will save your place, so you don't have to repeat work you've already done when you return to a lesson.
How long will it take me to complete a course?
Each hour of approved credit will take approximately one hour of computer time to complete. For example, a 7-hour continuing education course will take approximately 7 hours to complete; a 60-hour prelicense course will take approximately 60 hours to complete.
Can more than one person take a course at the same time?
No. The course software requires active participation throughout the course and is designed for a single user. Only the student who has enrolled in and paid for the course can receive credit for it. It's just like a classroom course, everyone must enroll separately and do the work.
What must I do to complete the course?
In order to get credit for completing the course, you must complete all the lessons in the course and fax or mail in your "Student Affidavit" attesting to the fact that you personally completed the course yourself.
In addition, some courses require a final exam. Real Estate Fundamentals & Real Estate Practice courses (30 hours each) require you schedule a time with us to sit and take your proctored exams. Each of these tests are 100 questions. You must have a minimum score of 70. Students are given 2 attempts to take each exam. If failed twice, the student must retake the course before being eligible to sit for the exam again.
When a student sits for the exam, no electronic devices are allowed in the building.
When you see the course selection list, it will indicate whether a final exam is required for a given course.
How do I get credit for course completion?
Once all course requirements are completed, you will be issued a Course Completion Certificate.
Can I use the course for review when I'm done?
Yes. When you enroll in an online real estate class, you pay for a license to use the software to complete the course. After you have completed the course, however, you can review the course for up to 90 days.
Can I use the course on more than one computer?
Yes. You can use the course on any computer that has access to the internet.
