BCAR Good Neighbor Award

The BCAR Good Neighbor Award honors one outstanding Realtor® each year who goes above and beyond in giving back to the community. This award celebrates a member who exemplifies the spirit of the “Realtors® Are Good Neighbors” initiative by showing exceptional dedication to volunteer work, charitable efforts, and making a lasting positive impact beyond the world of real estate.

Applications Now Open

Submit a nomination for yourself or a fellow BCAR member who’s making a difference in the community. Application Deadline is October 31, 2025

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the BCAR Good Neighbors Award, nominees must:

  1. Be a current BCAR Realtor® member in good standing.

  2. Demonstrate a meaningful and sustained commitment to a nonprofit or community cause.

  3. Have made a measurable impact through volunteerism or charitable efforts (not solely financial contributions).

  4. Have completed the majority of their volunteer work within the last 12–18 months.

  5. This award is intended to recognize individual contributions, not association- or company-wide efforts. If an individual within your company can be singled out as instrumental to the success of a group effort, he or she is eligible. If the achievements of two people (such as a married couple or co-founders of an organization) cannot be separated, they can enter as a pair and their entry will be considered as one.

Rules

Nomination Process

  1. Nominations must be submitted using the official BCAR Good Neighbors Award Nomination Form (online).

  2. Self-nominations are permitted.

  3. Nominations must include:

    A written description of the nominee’s volunteer efforts (300–500 words).
    Specific outcomes and impact of their service.
    Name and contact information of the benefiting organization.
    At least one letter of recommendation from a representative of the organization.

Deadline to Submit: October 31, 2025


Judging Process

  1. Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of 5–7 BCAR members including the BCAR Immediate Past President, DEI Committee Chair or Co-Chairs, Reach Out Committee Chair or Co-Chairs and 2 members of the Reach Out Committee.

  2. The judging panel will evaluate nominees based on:

    Community impact
    Level of personal involvement
    Innovation or leadership demonstrated
    Sustainability of efforts
    Nominee names will be retracted during the judging process.

     


 Award & Recognition

  1. One winner will be selected annually and recognized at a BCAR event and in BCAR publications.

  2. The winner will receive a $500 donation made in their name to the nonprofit organization of their choice.

  3. A QR code linking directly to the winning charity’s donation page will be displayed during the award ceremony to encourage additional contributions from attendees.

  4. A professional video feature will be produced to showcase the Realtor®’s volunteer efforts and highlight the mission and impact of the benefiting charity. This video will be promoted through BCAR’s website, social media, and newsletter.

  5. BCAR will explore partnering with the winning charity the following year—through donation drives, volunteer events, or awareness campaigns—if the organization’s mission aligns with BCAR’s values and outreach goals.


Affiliate Sponsorship

  1. BCAR will invite Affiliate Members to sponsor the annual $500 award donation.

  2. Sponsorship includes:

    Recognition in press releases, newsletters, and on social media.
    Opportunity to co-present the $500 check with the BCAR President to the winner’s chosen charity.
