(Warminster, PA)- Are you thinking of buying a home but are unsure of what you want? From size to style to features, prospective homebuyers must make many decisions when looking for the right fit. Knowing the items other buyers want may help inspire your homebuying wish list.
“Many homebuyers are seeking functionality over looks,” said Bucks County Association of Realtors® President Stephanie Garomon. “Home features that increase their quality of life often rank higher than ones that serve only aesthetic purposes.”
For example, in the kitchen, top wanted features include double sinks, drinking water filtration and pull-out shelves. In the bathroom, many buyers want private toilet compartments and double vanities in the primary bath.
“Smart home technology is another feature that’s becoming increasingly popular,” Garomon added. “Again, the tech features homebuyers are seeking serve functional purposes and aim to improve consumers’ day-to-day lives.”
Smart thermostats top the list of desired smart home items, as they improve energy efficiency, cut energy costs, allow remote temperature control and have learning capabilities to automatically adjust according to preferences. Homebuyers are also seeking smart security systems and smart alarms to increase security and safety.
Additionally, homebuyers commonly want washers/dryers or laundry hookups, as well as a garage or dedicated parking space.
“Shopping for a new home can be overwhelming,” Garomon said. “Whether you’re unsure of where to start or you already have a wish list of features you want, Realtors® are experienced professionals who are dedicated to helping you find your dream home.”
